Matthew joins ASCAP as a publishing member and starts his new publishing company Chaconne.  This company now publishes all of Matthew’s unpublished works.  New “order” page, where scores and parts can be purchased in PDF or hard copy form, coming soon.

Accepts position at Gotlands Tonsättarskolan (The Gotland School of Music Composition), Visby, Sweden, for the 2010-2011 academic year.  Matthew will teach notation and aural-skills to composition students.

Matthew receives a 2010 BMI student composer award (his second) at a ceremony in New York City.  The winning work was Reflections on the Death of the Beloved for symphonic band.

Matthew and Jason Zencka’s chamber opera Voir Dire will be premiered early 2011, in Stockholm, Sweden, by conductor Jan Risberg and ensemble Sonanza.  Details TBA.

Commissioned by the St. Olaf Orchestra to write a new orchestra work for the 2011-2012 concert season.

June premiere of Voir Dire is cancelled; vocal ensemble VOX (Vara konserthus) backs out of performances, citing the opera’s controversial subject matter.
