The St. Olaf Orchestra 2022 Minnesota pre-tour, Western US tour and home concert features the world premiere of composer Matthew Peterson’s first symphony, The Singing Wilderness.

Commissioned in honor of conductor Steven Amundson’s upcoming retirement, The Singing Wilderness is based on the eponymous book by Minnesota wilderness advocate Sigurd F Olson. This new large-scale symphonic work will follow the passage of the seasons in the Minnesota border wilderness.

The 92-member St. Olaf Orchestra, widely recognized as one of the finest undergraduate orchestras in the United States, has been featured on NPR and PBS and was the 2013 winner of the the American Prize in Orchestral Performance.
